Dr Amir Akram MBBS, FRACGP

Dr Akram has lived and worked on the Sunshine Coast since 2003 and has worked extensively in hospitals in Melbourne and general practices in QLD. He has joined RACGP Training Program and is a Senior examiner for RACGP. Welcoming new patients for Skin Cancer Checks and Minor Procedures, Travel Vaccines etc.

Dr Akram has special interest in Travel Vaccinations, Aged Care, Chronic Disease Management, Family medicine, Cardiovascular health, Pre-employment medicals and all types of medicals. Accepts Workcover patients. Injury Net Doctor.

Dr Akram speaks English and Bengali.

Dr Janice Choi is a female GP with special interests in Skin Cancer Medicine/Surgery, Contraception and Sexual Health. She is available 2-3 days a week.

Dr Janice graduated from Griffith University with a Bachelor of Medical Science (BMedSci) and subsequently Doctor of Medicine (MD) in 2016. She has worked in Mackay Base Hospital and Sunshine Coast University Hospital for a number of years and became a fellow of Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

Areas of interest: Skin Cancer, Family planning e.g. contraception (Mirena/Kyleena & Implanon). Medical Termination of Pregnancy. Venesections. Iron infusions. HIV PrEP. STI checks.

Qualifications: • FRACGP • MD • BMedSci • Professional Certificate in Skin Cancer Medicine (HealthCert)

Dr Chowdhury has returned as a Permanent VR GP to Ocean Wave Medical.

Dr Shad Chowdhury completed his RACGP Fellowship in 2021 and completed his MBBS at JCU in 2016 before completing internship at Royal Darwin Hospital then moving to Sunshine Coast SCHHS for past 2 years.

Dr Chowdhury is available 4 days a week. Dr Shad is not accepting new patients.

Special interests include: Chronic Disease Management, Dermatology and Skin checks, Palliative care, Hepatology and general medicine.

Dr Quansheng (Jonathan) Jing MBBS, FRACGP, AMC

Dr Jonathan Jing joined us in 2016 after working in gympie for years as a General Practitioner. He obtained fellowship of RACGP in 2012. Dr Jing enjoys the diversity in general practice, with special interest in chronic disease management and preventative healthcare. Dr Jing speaks English and Mandarin Chinese.

Dr Tony Moor MBBS, FRACGP (UQ)

Dr Moor was trained at the University of Queensland. Dr Moor has lived and worked on Sunshine Coast for 22years. He was Senior Medical Officer and Director of Emergency Medicine at Caloundra Hospital until 2003, when he commenced general practice. Dr Moor’s special interests are cardio thoracic medicine, aged care and palliative care. Dr Moor also offers Venesection and Iron Infusion for patients requiring these treatments.

Dr Venera Edwards MBBS

Dr Venera Edwards joined Ocean Wave in 2016 after moving from Maleny where she has been practising for the past few years and will be welcoming new patients.

Special interests include women and children's health.

Dr Lorna Alahakoon is available 2 days a week and welcoming new patients. Dr Lorna enjoys women's health, paediatrics and preventative medicine. Dr Lorna has completed her FRACGP as a specialist in General Practice. Dr Lorna studied with James Cook University.

Dr Shari completed her medical schooling at James Cook University in 2021, studying in Townsville, Mackay and remote north Queensland. She went on to complete her hospital training in the Sunshine Coast and in Launceston. Shari is interested in all areas of general practice, but has special interest in women's health, chronic disease management and preventative health care. Outside of work Shari enjoys spending time at the beautiful Sunshine Coast beaches, cooking and rollerskating.
