  • Dr Tollan Conway

    General Practitioner, Male

    Dr Tollan Conway grew up on the South Coast of NSW and completed his medical degree at the University of Wollongong in 2020. During his studies, he undertook rotations across a variety of healthcare settings, including Wollongong, Shoalhaven, Grafton, and Maclean.

    After graduating, Dr Tollan worked at the Gold Coast University Hospital in Queensland, where he gained extensive experience in emergency and paediatric emergency departments during his internship and residency years.

    Now back on the South Coast, Dr Tollan lives in Kiama with his young family and brings a wealth of expertise to KDMP. His special interests include emergency care, paediatrics, and supporting patients with individualised care for their health needs.

  • Dr Nick Cooper

    General Practitioner, Male

    Dr Nick Cooper joined KDMP in 2025, bringing a wealth of experience from his work across the Shoalhaven, Illawarra hospitals, and beyond. With qualifications in both physiotherapy and medicine, including a Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy), a Bachelor of Medicine, and a Diploma of Paediatrics, Dr Nick offers a unique perspective in sports injuries, emergency care and paediatrics in general practice.

    His special interests include paediatrics, sports injuries, sports medicine, emergency care, and managing long-term conditions. Dr Nick has also completed the Sydney Child Health Program, enhancing his expertise in children’s health.

    After moving to the Shoalhaven in 2019, Dr Nick worked as a junior doctor in ISLHD hospitals, took on locum hospital work across NSW in 2023, and gained GP experience in Nowra in 2024. Now based in Kiama, he’s thrilled to join the KDMP team and support our local community.

    When he’s not seeing patients, Dr Nick enjoys surfing, fishing, and spending quality time with his young family.

  • Dr Marcus Coelho

    General Practitioner, Male

    Dr Marcus Coelho joined the KDMP team in January 2025. He graduated in medicine in Brazil in 2003 and went on to complete specialized training in Internal Medicine, Intensive Care Medicine, and Ultrasonography. After earning his specialist degree in Intensive Care in 2010, Dr. Coelho established an ICU in the Brazilian Amazon, where he worked until 2016. During this time, he recognized the crucial need for ongoing care for patients post-ICU discharge and returned to General Practice to provide comprehensive support, balancing his time between the ICU and General Practice.

    In 2016, Dr. Coelho and his family relocated to Australia, where he began working in Emergency Medicine at Bowral, and later in Wollongong and Shellharbour. By 2021, Dr. Coelho chose to return to holistic patient care, dividing his time between hospital emergency departments and General Practice.

    Dr. Coelho’s special interests include managing complex medical needs, metabolic syndromes, congestive heart failure, palliative care, and ultrasonography. He holds a diploma and fellowship in Point of Care Ultrasonography and serves as an instructor for Point of Care Ultrasonography trainees at the Australian College of Emergency Medicine.

  • Dr David Hassell

    General Practitioner, Male, MBBS

    Dr David Hassell has additional training in Emergency medicine, urgent care and Urgent ultrasound training.

    He has special interests in Paediatrics, Emergency care and preventative health.

    He grew up in Toronto, Canada and also spent much of his time in rural areas of Canada.

    He completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at Sydney University in 2016. Prior to this he completed an honours degree in Biomedical Science at the University of Western Ontario in Canada before migrating to Australia permanently. He then worked in hospital positions for 2 years in Dubbo and then Emergency Care and Urgent care for 5 years at Prince of Wales Hospital.

    He moved to Kiama Downs in 2024 with his young family to begin his final training in General Practice. He has additional training in Urgent care, Paediatric emergency care and Adult emergency care. David is a member of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

    When David is not working his hobbies include Golf, Running and spending time at the beach with his young family.

  • Dr Emma Foley

    General Practitioner, Female

    Dr Emma Foley grew up in Coogee, Sydney and has special interests in womens health, paediatrics, aged care, chronic disease management and preventative healthcare.

    She completed a Doctor of Medicine at the University of Wollongong and has also completed a Bachelor of Pharmacy at Charles Sturt University where she spent 10 years working as a pharmacist before moving to General Practice.

    Emma moved to Kiama with her young family 3 years ago where she has worked at hospitals within the Illawarra & Shoalhaven region. Her hobbies include spending time outdoors, going to the beach with her family, taking her dog for a run and gardening.

  • Dr Maree Howard

    General Practitioner, Female

    Dr Maree Howard has additional training in mental health. Her special interests include paediatrics, pregnancy care, women’s health and mental health.

    She grew up in the Illawarra and Southern Highlands region. After spending some time overseas, she then moved back to the Illawarra where she completed her medical degree at the University of Wollongong in 2018. She then proceeded to work in the Illawarra region after graduating. She lives in Shell Cove with her young family and enjoys spending time outdoors.

    She completed a Bachelor of Science (with a major in Medical Biotechnology) and a Doctor of Medicine at Wollongong University. She has also completed Advanced Life Support 2 training, and Mental Health Skills Training. She is currently a Registrar of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

  • Dr Juliana Michiles

    General Practitioner

    Originally from Brazil, Dr Juliana ventured across borders, accompanied by her young son, to make the unspoilt South Coast her new home. Her passion for General Practice stems from the diverse nature of work, and she remains deeply committed to providing comprehensive and personalised care to her patients.

    She completed her degree in Medicine in Brazil in 2013. She has gained extensive experience in Emergency Medicine over the years and is a valued member of the Emergency Departments in the District. She is currently working towards a Fellowship in General Practice.

    Driven by a special interest in metabolic health, Dr Juliana takes great joy in assisting patients on their transformative journey towards a healthy weight. She believes in a holistic approach to healthcare, focusing not only on treating symptoms but also empowering individuals to achieve overall well-being.

    Beyond her medical pursuits, Dr Juliana finds solace in various activities that enrich her life. Surfing, yoga, and immersing herself in the world of art, music, and food are her cherished passions.

  • Dr Briony Copelin

    General Practitioner, Female

    Speaks English

    Dr Briony Copelin has interests in the management of chronic and complex disease. She also is focussed in obesity and metabolic syndrome and is currently doing additional training in these fields.

    Briony did her extended skills training in Emergency Medicine in Darwin and completed the Emergency Medicine Certificate during that time. She has also completed mental health skills training, contraceptive implant training and is a registered medical pregnancy termination prescriber.

    Dr Briony Copelin obtained fellowship from the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in March 2022. She completed her medical degree from The University of Sydney in 2015 and did her earlier training at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney.

    She has since lived and worked in many regional areas including Lismore, Orange, Port Macquarie, Wagga Wagga and Darwin.

    Her hobbies include anything outdoors and being active. She loves the ocean and the mountains. She also enjoys reading, travel and seeking out the best coffee.

  • Dr Danielle Ward

    General Practitioner, Female

    Dr Danielle Ward has additional training in women’s health, contraception and mental health.

    She has a special interests in Paediatrics, pregnancy, women’s health, mental health and chronic diseases.

    She grew up in Bathurst, NSW and completed her medical degree in 2009, graduating from the University of New South Wales. Since that time she has worked at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney in emergency training and is now completing her fellowship training for the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

    She recently moved to the South Coast from Sydney with her husband and their young children and is completing GP training in Kiama in the Illawarra. She has completed a Family Planning NSW Sexual and Reproductive Health Certificate and is currently completing the Sydney Child Health Program, through the University of Sydney.

    When she is not working she likes to spend time with her family at the beach. She is a member of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

  • Dr Thomas Hilliar

    Dr Tom Hilliar has special interests in paediatrics, child health, adolescent health, pregnancy care, fertility problems, dermatology and mental health.

    Dr Tom has additional training in paediatrics and mental health and is from the Jervis Bay area originally. He lives locally in Kiama Downs with his family. We are open Monday to Friday from 8am to 5.30pm, Tuesdays we are open 7am to 6.30pm.

Ten young doctors in Kiama Downs have a reputation for excellent family focused care and for being great doctors for babies, children, teens and families.

GPs in Kiama Downs live locally and provide Kiama with additional training in paediatrics, pregnancy, fertility, skin cancer, women’s health, all forms of contraception including Implanon devices, men’s health and mental health.
